Online Survey - Analysis of Method

Completed by: Myself (Indiviual Work)

Online Survey
Analysis of using an online survey

Strengths:
 - The strengths of this method is that it is easy to get responses as a lot of the population uses the internet every day
- Takes less time to create
- Easier to gather responses

Weakness:
- Not sure exactly who answered the quiz so it could be inreflective of our target audience
- The reliability can be questioned
- We do not know if the people who answered it were truthful

Conclusion:
I believe this was a fairly good method to find out what our audience liked as it showed us that the audience like our idea so we know we are on the right track storyboard and plot wise.It also allowed me to use social networking to enhance my work so this work was particuary enjoyable. I enjoyed using Media 2.0 as it's more interactive and visually appealing.

The results from the survey show that people think their is potential in our aim and have given us tips on what codes and conventions we must remember to include. Overall, I think the survey has been helpful and illuminating.

Online Survey - Part Three

Online Survey
Part 3 - Collecting and Analysising the results

Analysising the results

Question 1
Only two people said that they didn't like fairytales so I think it will be successful to use at least part of our idea.

Question 2

Every one asked thought of the Disney Film instead of the original fairytale which is beneficial to us because our film plot is more similar to the Disney Film than the fairytale.

Question 3
Six people said the poisioned apple scene, two people said the scene where the prince saves her, someone said a scene with the dwarfs rushing to save Snow White and someone couldn't remember one. We were hoping most people would say about the poision apple because its a major element of our film so this question was beneficial to us as this reaffirmed our belief that it was an important scene.

Question 4

80% of the people asked said that they thought that Snow White did have the potential to be adapted into a thriller which is what we hoped they would say, as it is our main aim to prove in our film opening.

Question 5

Most people said scary music, suspense, realistic characters and an interesting plot. This will help us while storyboarding and filming as we can ensure we include these codes and conventions.

Question 6

90% of the people that answered the survey said that a poster advertising a thriller snow white film would appeal to them. This shows us that our target audience would be interested and also shows us that poster marketing is a beenficial way of raising awareness for the film.

Overall: The survey has used quantative and qualative data to provide us helpful and useful as it has shown us that we are on the right track with our film plot and ideas. The market research has also helped us make sure we are putting in what our audiences want and expect from our film. I think the survey will be a help when we film as we can make sure we use the information and put it into our film.

Chosen Actor

Completed by: Myself

We have after much discussion chosen an actress to play Snow White. We only need one actor for the film opening.

Name: Annie Lock
Age: 17
Reason we chose her: We chose her because she has a similar appearance to how we wanted the character to look like, she has acting experience and we know her so we can trust her.

Possible dates - weather forecasts

Compelted by: Myself (Indiviual Work)

I have research into weather forecasts for some of the possible dates:

Wednesday 9th November:

Friday 11th November:

Saturday 12th November:

Sunday 13th November:

I did this to try to eliminate the chance of us being un-prepared for the weather conditions and if we know what the weather is we can pack the equipment up accordingly i.e. water proof cover.

Possible dates for filming: first thoughts

Completed by: Myself (Indiviual Work)

We will have all the planning work for filming done by either Wednesday 9th November or Friday 11th November so we may be able to film on the following days:

  • Friday 11th November after school - We could film the indoor scene then as it doesn't hinder too much on what the light outside is like and will also be a fairly quick scene to film. A problem would be the actors availibility.
  • Saturday 12th November in the afternoon or morning - this is inpropable as we all work on Saturdays and will have to give a weeks notice to get the day off.
  • Sunday 13th November - for me this inpropable as I have work on this day too and won't be able to give enough notice.
  • Wednesday 16th November after school - We could go film after school but it depends on the natural lighting and the weather
  • Friday 18th November - we do not have many lessons that day so we might be able to go to our location on that day and film. A problem could be that transport could be harder as our parents may be at work but we do have alternate means of transport: my sister or public transport.
  • Saturday 19th November - This is more propable because we can give our employers enough notice that we will need to have this day off. We will be able to have the whole day and there is more possibility that our actress will be available because it's not a school day.
  • Sunday 20th November - We have agreed to film for Laura and Emma, other students in our class so this is inpropable unless we do the filming in the morning
As a group we will discuss these dates and finalise the date after we know the storyboard, made sure the actor is available on those dates and made sure we can all make those dates.

Prologue - "Voice over"

Completed by: Myself (Indiviual Work)

The prologue is a voice over that will be non diagetic voice in the background of the scenes. We decided to use this because it adds another layer to the opening scene and applies the enigma code as you wonder why the voice over is needed and what relevance it will have to the film.

Voice over: draft one

"I'd always been a good girl. Never said a bad word, I was always kind...I had never dared to bend the rules, let alone break them. But in every good girl, there is always that alluring temptation to do something reckless. A good girl may wonder what it would be like...to do what you please, and not think about the consequences. I couldn't help my self...and soon enough the good girl in me was non existent and in its place...was a demon with no conscience."

Group thoughts: We liked it as a group as we thought it captured the essence of the film and applied an enigma code as in the dialogue it is not clear what she has done thats bad but we know she has turned bad.
- To improve it: we think that it should be slightly shorter.

Voice over: draft two

"I'd always been a good girl. I had never dared to bend the rules, let alone break them. But in every good girl, there is always that alluring temptation to do something reckless. A good girl may wonder what it would be like to do what you please, and not think about the consequences. I couldn't help my self...and soon enough the good girl in me was non existent and in its place...was a demon with no conscience."

Group thoughts:
- As we have just took out a sentence we still like this newer version

Final voice over:
"I'd always been a good girl. I had never dared to bend the rules, let alone break them. But in every good girl, there is always that alluring temptation to do something reckless. A good girl may wonder what it would be like to do what you please, and not think about the consequences. I couldn't help my self...and soon enough the good girl in me was non existent and in its place...was a demon with no conscience."

Extra part of action plan

Completed by: Myself (Indiviual Work)

As we will be filming in two weeks, we have decided to each indiviually look into what props we need, how we will get our costume and what music we will use.

Tayla will be aquiring the music, and to do this she will research into music on the internet and find an appropriate piece. Then if the song has an artist, she will email that artist and request permission to use that piece.

Nicola will be creating a prop we need which will be a hazard sign which will proclaim to not eat the apples in the area it will be hung in.

I will be looking into how we will get our costume for our main character. We are thinking of going with a outfit similar to the classic "Snow White" dress but as this may be expensive, we have agreed to use clothes instead of buying a costume. I will be looking into where we can locate clothes from and I will also be taking photos of the outfit or I will sketch the design of the costume.

Whilst researching I found the following website, which is a help website that teaches you how to do certain things. This particular article is how to make an at home Snow White costume out of your own clothes which is something we may do as it's not expensive and the clothes are accessible.
