Today's lesson: Camera Techniques

Completed by: Myself (Individual work)

Today, we wrote a list of all the things we need to have prepared for filming, such as:

  - Transportation organised
  - Tripod
  - Camera
  - Costumes
  - Props
  - Storyboard
  - Script/dialogue
  - Health and Safety
  - Know any regulations that the area we are using may have
  - Actors
  - Location map
  - Correct lighting - portable lights
  - Make up
  - Production notes
  - Charger for electronic equipment
  - Shot list
  - Refreshments
 - Schedule
 - Protective equipment
 - Money
 - First aid
 - Gaffotape
 - Call sheet
 - Base

Lesson:

Today, we refreshed our memories about camera shots and angles and what we can connotate and denotate from the angles and mise en scene.

We then learned that white/light is made from all the colours of the rainbow and to counter balance wrong coloured lighting, you can use different colour sheets to make the white balance tool on the camera change to a different colour. An example: if you were filming and the room was too yellow, if you put something blue in in the yellow would turn white so it looks more realistic.

Reflections:
- We really need to pay attention to the shot when filming and try to ensure we have the right white balance
- We need to remember to use a variety of camera angles and remember what they can connote.
- I was reminded that we can't just rely on the auto focus - we need to manually adjust it ourself to ensure we have the focus we want in the shot.
- I was reminded what depth of field shots were and how effective they can be
